Spring Conference 2021 Pre-Event Workshop
Loyalty Fraud in a Post-COVID World:
What can we learn from the rest of the world?
- Date: April 14th, 2021
- Time: 10 am EDT/ 3 pm BST
- Location: Online
- Delegates: 50+
In this great interactive session, we touched base on how the turbulence of the pandemic has affected fraud, sales, and security. The lack of fraud losses due to reduced sales may have created a false sense of security for what fraudsters have in store as the travel industry begins to bounce back post-pandemic. Fraudsters understand human behavior, and in our enthusiasm when things open up, we need to be vigilant, and our customers with us.
Departments need to work together (we’ve said this often), and preferably industry members work together as well. “Fraud prevention can no longer be done in isolation”.
Forter‘s Director Global Airline Strategy, Stuart Barwood and, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Daniel Shkedi covered, amongst other subjects:
- Updated best practices on understanding loyalty attacks and how to protect, prevent, and secure against them.
- How a “revenue management”-style approach can help you stay ahead of fraudsters and position the fraud department as a revenue stream for your organization.
- Analyzing the dark web to better understand loyalty fraud trends, specifically:
- The advent of Fraud-as-a-Service.
- Stolen accounts and loyalty points for sale.
- Gift cards – a new favorite monetization technique used by cybercriminals.
Stuart Barwood has over 20 years of experience in the airline sector working or consulting for over 45 airlines in all sectors internationally in a range of commercial roles.
He started his career in Revenue Management & Network Planning roles at EasyJet and Jet2.com before working in consulting roles for Sabre, Amadeus, IATA, and KPMG. Consulting projects have included the likes of Aer Lingus, Saudia, Finnair, Ethiopian Airlines, Etihad & VietJetAir.
Daniel Shkedi is a Senior Product Marketing Manager at Forter, the market leader in e-commerce fraud prevention.
Before joining Forter, Daniel held product marketing roles at fraud prevention and cyber-security companies (BioCatch, Nation-E). Daniel holds an MBA from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, along with an M.A from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
